Making The Right Choice!

The partner you choose must have knowledge and depth of experience working with firms in your industry. Your partner needs to know the technology and how it functions and understand your specific challenges, business processes, regulations, and anything else unique to your industry. Be precise when you interview a partner. Ask specifically about your sub-industry (e.g., not “financial services,” but “wealth management”). Different methods and processes are involved, so ask about their team’s background in your discipline and always ask for and review client references.

Our approach to project management

Do you use the Critical Path Agile Waterfall Scrum PRiSM Kanban Lean PMBOK PRICE2 methodology?

We use a framework, not a methodology!

We want to implement tools that allow project teams structure with flexibility. That is why we chose a framework rather than a methodology. A framework allows each project team to have their own interpretation of how the tools will be implemented. The tools used are a Kanban board, Iterations, Sprints, Functional Developers, Technical Developers, End- Users, Project Managers, and Project Sponsors or leadership teams. We manage projects more fluidly while still providing structure for reporting progress, risks, and change control – without additional costs or project risks.

Water

The initial gathering of requirements is typically performed during the Statement of Work (SOW). However, this is rarely accurate once the initial discovery of a project is performed. So we maintain water as the initial discovery waterfall phase of a project before moving to a full agile method.

Scrum

From this discovery, the team prioritizes requirements to identify dependencies. Then the requirements are transformed into user stories in a backlog. The project team determines a more accurate estimate of effort to complete all items from this extensive list. The timeline is broken down into manageable sections called iterations or sprints. At this point, we are breaking up delivery into functional groupings by using agile sprints. The project team will meet daily for quick, short, non-detailed stand up meetings to cover what was done, work in progress (WIP), and blockers.

Fall

Once the iteration is complete, the project team will review all the efforts to determine if we met the requirements. The benefit comes from using the sprints and cards within each sprint tied to user stories. This clarifies where requirements fell off the list, who made the decisions, and where the project team was effective or inefficient.

Our Approach to User Adoption

Dynamic Consultants Group is a solution consulting company with over 500+ projects under our belt. We understand and know how painful user adoption can be! That is why we’ve created some simple methods for increasing user adoptions on all projects. When you start with excellent user adoption, your projects will always be a success from start to finish! We couldn’t ask for anything more!

GET YOUR PEOPLE INVOLVED

As consultants, IT managers, and decision-makers, we need to remember that we are not the ones that will be spending our day in the system. It is critical for a productive workforce transformation always to include input from end-users. End-user input will be the most time-consuming step. However, it is also the most important and the single most significant project failure point. It helps create a solid foundation for future buy-in and trust in the program. We know that when people actively invest in a change, there is a 30 percent chance that it is more likely to stay with them. Begin by providing users with an opportunity to supply input through workflow development workshops and user acceptance testing. User input at all phases will go miles in the success or failure of a project.

MAKE IT LOUD AND MAKE IT EXCITING

It would be best if you generated hype for the new tech you are implementing. You want people to adopt technology at your organization. You want to make them as excited about it as the latest smartphone launch. You should enlist your marketing and PR to contribute, build an aura of expectation, and plan a fun event. To ensure your event leaves them wanting more.

Create a Culture of Goodbye

How do we foster a culture of goodbye? If you are always thinking about moving forward and saying goodbye to the old, your teams will be more likely to adopt new ideas and technologies and even help push the company to a goodbye culture. You can try incentives as a user adoption strategy. Rewarding new ideas and incentivizing performance is always an excellent method for driving user adoption. Reports show that employee incentive programs typically increase the frequency of the behaviors they reward by 22%. Rewards are best with a little friendly competition. Whether you pit entire departments against one another or allow people to compete as individuals, you will want to set incremental, measurable goals. This is called “gamification.” Gamification ensures the adoption process continues after the user has received each reward and will enable people to move up in their level of adoption.
